----------------------------- Asian food goodness abounds. Yesterday after a Chinatown dim sum excursion, we stopped in at Eldo Bakery, because I wanted more of my new favorite thing: sesame lotus balls. Or, as they were made at that bakery, sesame red bean balls. So good! While there, I also bought three mini-mooncakes: white lotus, green bean paste, and black plum paste. The green tea was the best, didn't care much for the black plum. Total: $3.50. Also, some vicarious Japanese food shopping: Atom called me from Mitsuwa on Sunday, asking if there was anything I wanted. Off the top of my head, I requested mochi (red bean cakes), white miso, and kim chee if he could find any without fish oil in it. The only kim chee he found that suited my condition was radish kim chee, a big jar of it, which is delicious. Total for the three items: approximately $9. * posted by j3s 2003.September.02Thanks. There are actually a lot of blogs out there dedicated to food, Paul KIPlog does a great job of maintaining a master list: http://kiplog.com/food/foodlinks.htm. * posted by j3s september 3, 2003 10:22 amIn Chinatown in SF, there's at least one bakery where you can walk away with a plastic bag full of sesame-mochi-red bean balls for a buck. I have yet to find its counterpart in Chicago. Man, those things are good. Like daifuku (sp?) but deep fried. Yum! * posted by vlm september 3, 2003 10:07 pmPost a comment
